In the past few years I have really been trying to implement small changes into our lifestyle as a family – to be more conscious about how, and what, we consume on a day to day basis, and to be more respectful of the environment and the impact we have on it… We don’t always get it right but we try, and I do believe in the power of small consistent actions to help make a bigger difference collectively.
I recently came across Living Eco on Facebook, a new Hillcrest-based company selling Reusable Beeswax Wraps – an enviro friendly alternative to cling wrap and other single use plastic wrapping/packaging that we all use so often in our day to day lives (covering leftovers, sandwich bags in lunchboxes and so on)

I ordered a pack to test them out (and a pack for my friend!) and think I will actually be needing some more soon because they are SO useful! The in laws visited last weekend with treats from Woolies (not so eco friendly with all the packaging, eep!) and after the kids had finished gorging on some chopped up fruit, I covered the container it had come in with the largest wrap, using the warmth of my hands to shape the wrap over the top of a container. I’ve since used the smallest wrap in the set to cover a punnet of baby tomatoes, and plan on using the medium one to wrap a block of cheddar in once it’s been opened.
The wraps are made of beeswax infused fabric which maintains its shape brilliantly, and as mentioned, they are totally are reusable and can easily be wiped clean and air dried between uses (beeswax is naturally anti-bacterial too!) So stoked with this find, they really are super useful, cost friendly and pretty too!
