Carin Smith is a self-described maker, crafter, illustrator and stylist with a background in decor, fashion and beauty styling, based here in South Africa. She has a passion for creating and making pretty things, and over the past fifteen years she has worked for various publications including IDEAS magazine, as a creative styling, décor, and fashion editor.
I first discovered Carin on Instagram a few years ago (I spend a lot of time there, find me HERE if you don’t already follow) and other than the unusual spelling of her name (the only other “Carin” I know is actually my sister!) I was immediately intrigued to have a stalk through her feed and follow her account for her beautiful paper flower images alone!
Carin creates INCREDIBLE faux blooms and foliage for special events, birthday’s, weddings etc – sometimes oversized, sometimes small, some super-realistic, others more stylised – and available in crepe/tissue paper, cardboard and hand-dyed varieties – all made by hand!
Apart from her floral-making talents, Carin’s other styling (home/product) painting, illustration and crafting skills are equally as swoon-worthy, a taster of her creative pursuits below… Can you tell I’m having a little creative-crush moment here!?
