So excited to finally share the work I have been doing for incredible Durban-based property entrepreneur, Murray Clark. Along with his awesome team, Murray wanted to develop a socially conscious property business focusing on retail developments after noticing that South Africa’s rural and township communities had very few, if any, nearby stores: Proproyale was born.
Let me just tell you though, this guy is super inspiring! Not only is Murray lovely to deal with (he really brings a human element and warmth to ‘business’) but he is totally on the ball, values good marketing and design, and he’s not afraid of being different! In fact, he wanted the branding for Proproyale to reflect the opposite of what would be the ‘norm’ for other typically corporate property developers in the same league.
For this reason, we explored a hand-lettered approach for the primary Proproyale logo – there is a sense of movement in the lettering and I love the modern and friendly, yet still professional, vibe that it has. Along with this, we’ve made use of a cool hexagonal icon incorporating the “P” for Proproyale (which had actually been part of another logo concept during the initial concept stages of the design process) and the lines here are meant to represent an actual building/roof structure (mirrored) as well as the idea of a ‘maze’, and the solving a ‘problem’ – Proproyale being at the pinnacle of it all – the solution!
After working on Murray’s branding for Proproyale, I worked with the stunning Lauren Setterberg (responsible for copy + amazing photos) to design an ‘outside the box’ company profile/brochure for the brand, before moving onto the design of Proproyale’s new online home which is NOW LIVE! at proproyale.com
I’m so freaking proud of this site and I am so grateful that Murray allowed me the opportunity to get creative and do something a bit different with it! I love that I had my dear friend slash super star developer Nicola Tweed on board to bring my design work to life through her expert coding and dev skills too ♥
We added some cool but subtle little animated effects to the site to bring it to life, as well as an interactive map to showcase Proproyale’s past and current projects. There are little bits of ‘quirk’ all over the place too – the wording on the contact form being my fave!
The site also features two phenomenal videos by Tomfoolery – love what they have done in capturing the essence of Murray, his passions, the Big Box Co and more – amazing #HeartEyes
Can’t wait to see what Murray and his team get up to in the future – follow along on Instagram for entrepreneurial insights and news @murrayjamesclark
Muz, thank you for allowing me to be part of this awesome journey ?
